Are you Aware of the Lens you See Yourself Through?

Are you Aware of the Lens you See Yourself Through?

Day 1

We all play different characters in different people’s story. Some people see us as villians while others see us as heros. Are you aware of how you see yourself? What role do you play in your story?

Do you find yourself changing who you are in order to please others and then leave the interaction feeling empty? Even if this means degrading and devalueing yourself just so that others don’t feel threatened by your presence. Do you feel comfortable voicing your opinions or your needs assertively or do you hold back and then rage out of control like a shaken soda bottle that has just lost it’s cap. Do you accept the role of the scapegoat just to avoid a power struggle and then settle into a dysfunctional role filled with shame. It’s time for a deep rooted, unshakeable sense of self awareness, use mindfulness to take a deep breath and think before you react in any situation. Learn to act from the core understanding of your true self.

Affirmation: I stand strong in knowing who I am and I can define my own character, I act from a solid foundation of confidence and self knowing..

Mindful Moment: Sit comfortably seated, with an awareness in posture. Elongating spine, chin up, shoulders back, arms relaxed, focusing on breath. Listening to the breath, with each breath expanding, lengthening, then letting go. Take a moment and listen to your thoughts. Think of how you define yourself. Ask yourself is this my perception or someone elses. Do you like this definition of yourself? If not, what could you do to be more connected to your true self? What thoughts, feelings, sensations, reactions are present? What are you noticing? When you feel distracted or unclear, keep going back to your breath. Lengthen each breath with confidence. Then, let go.

Nature Experience: Take a hike and keep going all of the way to the top. Stay aware in each moment of any thoughts, feelings, sensatons, or reactions that are present. Just observe and notice. Notice the sense of accomplishment with the view from the top. What does this feel like?

Journal Prompt: During my hike today I contemplated how I define myself and if that is most congruent with my truest self…. the emotion, feeling, or reaction was? What did I observe? How did this make me feel? How did I feel when I reached the top? How did I find congruence in my definition of myself? What was the view like?
